For a budget conscious traveller this is the perfect tour! Our tour leader was a wealth of knowledge and the tour hit all the main things you would want it too! Such an amazing adventure. 3 weeks on and I am still buzzing! Highly recommended:)

Prior to travelling I was not told I would be joining a tour which had started 2 weeks earlier. THe tour leader could not speak the local languages and therefore we had some difficulties during travel. The accomodation and transport was very budget compared to other tours and the higher price.

Hi Stuart, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback here. Most of our tours are modular meaning they are one long tour made up of many sections. This allows travellers to pick and choose the start and finishing location that best suits them. Many travellers also enjoy this style of tour as it allows them to meet more people than they normally would when travelling for longer durations. As there are so many languages spoken in South East Asia, it is very difficult to find tour leaders who speak all of them but our tour leaders are assisted at all times by members of staff in our head offices, ensuring smooth journeys so I'm sorry if you experienced some difficulty. We choose locally owned accommodation based on location and cleanliness and transport depending on what is the most convenient and accessible at the time. There is often a big variety in standards and I'm sorry if this didn't meet your expectations. Despite all of this, I do hope that you choose to travel with us again in the future. Thank you again, Jess @ Tucan Travel

Travel in Cuba seems more difficult than in other countries but there is definitely room for improvement. More explanation and assistance with optional activities is one such area.

Hi Vadim. Travel in Cuba has many challenges and it is important to approach the tour with flexibility and be adaptable to any changes that have to be made. We are always working on improving all of our tours and will take your comments on board.

I did the Cambodia or Wat tour from Thailand to Vietnam. This is a trip of a lifetime for me however it was too short. Make sure you have plenty of time before and after this trip so you can explore some more. Majority of the itinerary is in Cambodia. The tour guide was great and provided local knowledge about history, food and culture. I recommend this trip to anyone who wants to see Cambodia and its rich history.

The problem with travelling is that you never want to come home! I'm so pleased you had such a good time in South East Asia and we hope to see you on another Tucan Travel group tour again soon! Jess @ Tucan Travel

I had a super time on my trip to South America on the South American Flyer. My guide Wilson was really helpful and kind. However, I booked 2 nights extra accommodation at the end of the trip in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and I was charge about 190 pounds sterling (one month in advance - I would have had to pay an extra admin fee if I had waited). When I got the venue, I heard another traveller booking a room and it made me inquire about the price and it was about one quarter of what I paid. I was very disappointed with Tucan - I accept that there will be a mark-up but the level of the mark up that I was charged feels like exploitation. I would not book extra accommodation with Tucan again.

Hi Colette, We are really sorry about that. Due to currency fluctuations, the Brazilian Real is much weaker now than it was when we set the prices for our extra accommodation. We are delighted that you had such a good time on your South America Flyer. Wilson is an amazing tour leader and the cities you went to must have really blown you away. We haven't received your feedback questionnaire yet but if you email feedback@tucantravel.com we would like to provide you with a voucher for £100 off your next group tour as an apology for the price discrepancy. All the best on your next adventure, Jess @ Tucan Travel

I had a bad experience with altitude sickness as my body wasn't adjusted to the heights of La Paz onwards. There was no time to get acclimatise as the tour starts the next day after arrival. What I would suggest is ,in future travels to these high places ,the tourists should be informed about the possible danger of altitude sickness and seek medications from doctors or pharmacists prior to the adventure.I wasn't aware of this as I certainly would take precaution before embarking on the journey.I missed 2 trips during the whole tour.On the whole the trip was still worth it except few plumbing problems in one of the hotels. It was a good trip on the whole and tour guides was good. The did a good job.

Nice group size. Leader was great and easy to talk to. Taxi travel was a bit stressful at times, group travel was better ~ whether bus or train. Pleasant trip.

We have completed at least 4 adventure travel trips with Tucan and love this way of travelling - small groups, a lot of public transport, lots of opportunities to really mix with the locals and see how they live. The itineraries are great and to a large degree let you set you own budget and priorities for eating, exploring, relaxing etc once you reach your accommodation. The guides are all quite different but one thing in common, they get you to where you need to be. Rich (South America coast to coast) was fantastic and the main reason we undertook another Tucan trip, this time from Istanbul to Budapest via Bulgaria and Romania. Erik was also passionate and ensured a great travel experience. The 4 week loop from Budapest to Budapest also took us to some beautiful places but it was not as well organised locally yet that guide tried to impose 'restrictions' and had not always 'road tested' or checked the optional extra excursions recommended. Tucan addressed this well following feedback. Most recently we travelled on the Central American Markets and Mayans stretch with Lisa. She was great with a no fuss, can do approach but also willing to step back and not dictate where we ate etc. She provided options but did not try to influence decisions. Our final 4 week leg from Guatemala to Panama also took us to amazing places with a very motherly (even of older passengers) Bec. Thanks to all for some great experiences. we have no problem recommending Tucan if you want to go to some great places without too big a crowd.

This was the first time I travelled with Tucan and I am glad I did. It was a really good experience. Everything was planned and organised into details and I was well looked after. Would travel with them anytime again.

We'll organised trip tour guide was fantastic, sometimes the tour was a bit rushed and some of the hotels could of been bit better. Saying that it was good value for money and i would book with them again. A great tour in an amazing country.

I recently took the Jewels of Sri Lanka 15-day tour. Most people would describe this tour as ‘hectic’ as it is a non-stop ride, attempting to hit all the important sites and activities while maintaining a tight timeline. This may not be the most ideal holiday (for some) but it was exactly what I was looking for. I prefer to see as much as possible in the time allotted. There were a few moments where you could either relax or take an optional excursion (rafting, boat rides, etc) – I opted for the latter each time and did not my regret my decision at all. Our guide was amazing as a tour leader. He made everything seamless, whether it was simply checking into a hotel or arranging an excursion up ahead. The tour really went off without a hitch over the course of the 15-day tour. He would coordinate everything down the letter and even make adhoc changes at the request of the tour group. My only complaint was his English=speaking capabilities. I found at most times he didn’t not understand us and vice versa. I feel like we missed out on a lot of pertinent info with respect to the history and cultural facts of the site we were visiting. As I said above, the itinerary was a bit aggressive but that was welcomed by most of our group. This is definitely a tour for the willing and able bodied individual. I feel that I experienced all that the country had to offer in its rich tapestry of cultural and offerings. The only thing this is that there were times where I wish we had more free time to explore on our own, but we had to move on to the next item on the schedule in order to fit it all in. But we all have to take the good with the bad…. As for the food, we had amazing meals (small towns and village homes) and we meals that we’re not so great (inner cities and enroute rest stops)… It depended on the situation. All in all, I had an amazing time with the tour and the group that participated. I was a solo traveler and would highly recommend this to anyone that is looking for an adventure. Below are a few recommendations that I would like to suggest: 1. Airport pickup should be included in the package – anything else is just amateur 2. Each day, it would be helpful to handout the itinerary for the following day with rough timelines. I felt there was too much time and repetition of what was in store each day. 3. A little more time (when possible) to free explore at certain historical sites and bazaars

This was my first trip with Tucan and I had the most amazing time . Maria had the perfect mix of friendly support ,orientation to new cities , access to local transport, money , food but still being an independent traveller . I would plan to use Tucan again either On my own or with partner , great value for me the first time traveller.

It was awesome! I joined the adventure tour in sri lanka. Our group was very cool and we had always such a great time! I really enjoyed to have people in your group from different parts from all over the world. The tour was always well prepared. Our tour guide "amara" was always very friendly and funny! He showed us places also out of all the tourism spots, that was very cool ! Also our other helpers mahinda and our driver are two great people! The program of the tour was variable! I really enjoyed gling hikeing, cycling, visiting cultural spots like tempels, tea plantage, and so on. The accomandation were great! I would definitely joyning again and I just can recommend it to other people.
